Hi all. Like an idiot I forgot to remove the hose from the outdoor spigot over winter. Went to turn it on and water started coming out the siding. Turned it off, water stopped, and no signs of water damage inside.

I’d like to avoid calling a plumber and just fix it myself. But I have absolutely no idea where the pipes are located inside. We own a split level built in 2003. There isn’t an access panel or crawl space in the lower level. The spigot is on the other side of our kitchen about where the sink is.

Is this something I can DIY or should I just bite the bullet and call a plumber?

One of my accounts decided to remove the frost proof hose bib that froze and tried to remove it with a pipe wrench and busted the pipe inside the wall. GOOD LUCK

Back of the cabinet has to come out along with the drywall and insulation just to get to the valve. If your location is correct. Kitchen floor on grade ? Might be easier to pull two or three pieces of siding go from the outside.

Yeah that’s what made me pause. Since I can’t see the pipe I have no idea if it’s sweated or not and I don’t want to mess around and break it.

I actually have leftover siding so that’s probably the better choice. Could I add an access panel after? Just to make things easier in the future?

possibly the hose bib was put inside a wall thats perpendicular to outside wall as those frost free bibs are long and dont fit in a 2x4 or 2x6 wall. often they are in a joist bay with acess from underneath

It's very likely in the joist bay, but there's no access panel/crawl space and the ceiling is finished and NOT a drop ceiling. So I would have to guess where about the pipe was located and cut holes into my ceiling.

same way us plumbers find it. + take measurements the bash a hole in lid (just kidding ) try to be precise . throw an acces panel on later if the hole dosent get too big. I dont come from where frost free bibs are used but understand how its done built 28 homes in northern nevada I put them in simple stuff. not sure whether its normal to bury them like that but it is what it is.
