I researched this site and learned that it is not easy to replace very old(40 yrs) bathtub drain.
Can I ask 3 questions?
1. Is it difficult to replace the tub drain because the plumbers putty underneath the tub drain flange is stuck to the tub basin like a glue or the tub drain male thread is corroded and stuck to the pipe female thread? Or Both?
2. If the reason is that the plumbers putty is hardened and glued to the basin, will the penetrating oil like PB baster help if I spray around the flange? Or is heating up the flange with hair-dryer more helpful?
3. Will the penetrating oil really go thru the plumbers putty where water can not seep thru?
Thank you very much.
