TwistIIClean is for bigger stuff....

http://www.twistiiclean.com/frequently-asked-questions.html
The optimum mesh size depends on the size of the sediment particles in your water and the intended use of the water. LAKOS offers four different screen mesh sizes for the TwistIIclean filters:

30 mesh (600 micron)
60 mesh (250 micron)
100 mesh (150 micron)
140 mesh (105 micron)

The most common mesh size used in residential applications is 100, but you may benefit from a screen with finer or coarser mesh depending on water quality and end use of the water being filtered.

Here is a link to a great chart for "backwash rates by media". Backwash rates are based on the media type and water temperature. Backwash duration is usually set to the specific application. The old media FILOX would have a very short duration since its rate was excessively high, anion resins duration would be much longer due its very low backwash rate. See the chart for some general guidelines. http://media.wix.com/ugd/a3c37f_2a0a83ec45d848819f7cd1449cd41a6a.pdf
