Hi Folks,
I am a complete novice when it comes to plumbing but have replaced an apartment tub spout. Usually its a pretty simple affair. I always buy a "Universal tub spout" and just do a replacement.

However, my new place has the weirdest mount. I unscrewed the tub spout and found this:

How do I find a replacement spout? I bought a replacement universal but couldn't figure how that would even work?

Now that I see your response below, I can see that it's 1/2" copper with some parts of the old spout still there.
Good job on finding the slip spout that worked with the copper stub out.
