Struggling with getting soft water with Water Right Impressions IM-844. Have well water, test strips indicate 25-30 gpg, with little to no change after regen. Watching the regen process, it appears to be functioning correctly on all stages. In July, I replaced the resin with new 8% Crosslinked media, with little to no impact. I also cleaned the salt tank completely to ensure no salt bridging/etc. Have cleaned the injector and do not notice any thing else abnormal. Only 2 of us in the house, and I believe this unit to be max of 25,600 grains. I also believe the control valve to be Water Right proprietary WS1 Clack, not sure how to access the advanced programming, have it set right now at 30 grains hardness, and 12 day regen. This unit has the water meter plug installed so it doesn't measure water flow. I would like to keep this unit if it will do what is required, but not opposed to changing it if it isn't a simple fix. I am awaiting results of iron content, and have a simple 20" inline whole house spun filter before softener. Thoughts/ideas?

That system is quite small for your application. If it is an 18,000 grain actual system assuming standard efficiency setting.

In general, without taking into consideration compensated hardness for iron/manganese...

2 people x 60 gallons per day x 30 grains x 7 days between regens, you should have no less than a 25,000 grains capacity. At standard efficiency settings you should have a system no less than double your current size. Especially if you are ever going to have more than two people in the house.

No meter? That is not normal for a modern softener.

Your system should be set to regenerate every 4th day since you have a timeclock.

Thank you, given that would a 48,000 grain Fleck 5600SXT be a wise choice? Is there any benefit to the Iron Pro 2 model?
