Hi all - I am having a new softener+filtration system installed but i’m getting some conflicting information. I appreciate the expertise on this forum and hoping you all can help clear things up for me.
About the system:
- 10” Big Blue sediment filter, 5 micron
- 10x54 Clack WS1 Carbon Unit, 1.5 Cu. Ft. Catalytic Carbon
- 10x54 Clack WS1 Water Softener, 1.5 Cu. Ft. of 10% Crosslink Media, KDF MediaGuard
My home is on “city water” which in my case is a blend of ground water and imported sources. Water quality report summary:
- Hardness = 291 ppm (~17 gpg)
- Sodium = 62 ppm
- Chloride = 72 ppm
My question: What is the correct order of operations?
1. Sediment —> Carbon filter —> KDF/Softener
or
2. Sediment —> KDF/Softener —> Carbon filter
I’ve also been reading about leftover Sodium from the Softener media. Is that anything i should be concerned about?
Thanks in advance for any tips or advice!
