In a very small half bath, is it okay to wet vent a sink through the toilet? I'm thinking not, but others are thinking yes (family project).

So, the sink is on one wall, drains down to and across 36" floor where it meets the toilet drain. Vent comes up into the wall behind the toilet.

No, the toilet does not wet vent a lav. The vent needs to be higher than the trap on a lav, not far below. The lav gets run with 2" and can vent the toilet, but only if run with 2". The trap for the lav can be 1.5"

Correction... it would be a 2” drain from the nearby sink to allow for venting the toilet through its 2” vent.
