I'm plumbing a bathtub drain, and I got an ABS waste/overflow kit. It came with a fat gasket to use between the overflow elbow and the tub, and a thinner gasket to use between the waste elbow and the tub. Then I decided on a different finish for the interior parts, so I got a Kingston Brass DTT208 drain flange. I was surprised that drain flange came with a thin gasket as well, and it has no instructions.

So is the gasket that came with Kingston Brass drain flange intended to be used between the drain flange and the acrylic tub, in lieu of (non-staining) plumber's putty? Or is it provided just in case you are installing the drain flange on an existing drain elbow and need a new gasket between the drain elbow and tub?

Thanks,
Wayne

If you got a thin gasket in addition to the one that goes between the tub and the shoe, that is for the spin down drain in lieu of putty.
Kind your choice on what to use there. I've done it both ways.
