This might be a dumb question, but I've only recently entered the DIY arena, so thanks for helping me out either way. I am into metal casting and have used a coal-powered foundry up until now, but thought I'd try my hand at a propane fueled approach. I've more or less gathered all the fittings, pipes, valves, etc that I need, but I noticed that a 1/4" female x 1/4" female brass ball valve that I previously thought to be an NPT fitting on both sides is actually flared. Can I still use the NPT fittings I was originally planning to use without to much trouble? Or do I have to go and buy new flared ones to keep my propane system safe/effective?
