Under IPC, would a 1st-floor sink draining into the waste stack from the 2nd floor (with 2nd-floor fixtures) be code-compliant if it uses an AAV (Air Admittance Valve)? Or does an AAV not really eliminate the wet venting violation ... e.g., would it still be deemed a wet vent code violation even though it has an AAV for venting?

It would eliminate the wet vent all together as your vent is now an aav.
While code compliant an aav isn't the best option as it cannot relieve any positive air pressure caused by falling water, but the codes that have allowed aav's don't use that as a consideration and who knows if they should. I'm guessing if it caused a lot of issues there would be some talk or field observations.

if the drain isnt overloaded it should not cause an issue with an AAV. no question though an AAV is not a vent at all but a substitute to having a vent . I dont know why my code dosent allow them I only guess its integrety to a good build .
