Trying to figure out what I'm dealing with. It is a 1/2" pipe from wall. I think it has a threaded male adapter soldered on, a threaded female shut-off valve, and a 3/8" dishwasher line. Questions: Can I replace with a threaded valve or is it too corroded? And, if I can use a threaded valve, how do I ensure the 3/8" connection will face 4 o'clock when tightened? My second choice is to cut this off, but very little pipe to work with. Yes, newby here.

It's easy enough to spin those off and spin a new one one. Two wrenches, one to hole the male adapter and one for the shutoff. A few wraps of tape or some pipe dope smeared on the threads.
Quit turning when you gone far enough. You want it pretty snug too. If you replace the supply line to the dishwasher, there will be less concern about where you finish off.
