Is there any disadvantage of using a brass PRV (e.g. Watts LFX65BU, pressure range 20-80 psi) for drip irrigation lines over the plastic PRVs that are usually sold at sprinkler supply stores? What is the respective expected longevity? thanks.

It depends on which plastic one you are talking about. If the plastic one has an adjustment bolt on top like the brass one, then it will work the same. If there is no adjustment bolt on the plastic one, it is a little different. Both kinds of plastic valves are fine, just that the ones without the adjustment bolt might leak a little. So you just need to be careful to install them in a place where a small drip won't cause a problem.
