Debated on separating these as multiple posts, but here goes:

- Can i get away with installing a flat kitchen sink island with a loop vent. I have seen construction details showing this but the top of the loop doesn't (and can't) reach above the top of the sink

- What is considered an EMERGENCY floor drain. I am considering putting one in a house but having to deal with trap primers or lav-waste supply seems burdensome. Is the "emergency" portion a code issue or a tenant/use issue? Meaning, can we assume the floor drain is always used as a drain

- Back to the floor drain. Does the entire room* with the drain need to be pitched, or does the floor only need to be pitch at a certain distance from the drain? (the tiling work make because cumbersome with the former)

- Can i install a shower valve/handle next to a toilet to use as a bidet wand? Meaning, will and could an inspector complain about the lack of a floor drain (or even shower compartment) if i install one?

What does the roof have to do with this?

1002.4.1 Trap seal protection.

Trap seals of emergency floor drain traps and trap seals subject to evaporation shall be protected by one of the methods in Sections 1002.4.1.1 through 1002.4.1.4 1002.4.1.5.

Proponent’s reason statement: This is a method of providing trap seal protection that can lower the owner's overall cost of maintenance and requires no special or certified product to do so.

I am thinking an emergency floor drain is one that you don't plan to use regularly. Planning to have a water softener drain to the floor drain during regeneration sounds like a regular use to me.
brain fart
does the entire room* need to be pitched? Sometimes the bathroom is pretty huge

also, is there a code definition on when it needs to be considered "emergency" or is that up to the installer/architect?

I am thinking that having a softener discharge over the floor into the drain during the regen would make this not an emergency drain. But if the softener discharged its drainage via an air gap into a floor drain bowl with the connection under the floor, that would be your trap primer.

I went looking for a floor drain with an inlet to the bowl and found this

It says PVC even tho the picture shows black.

https://www.menards.com/main/plumbi...oor-drain/842-3pnr/p-1569997605652-c-9430.htm does not identify the material or how it connects to the pipe.

See https://www.webstaurantstore.com/documents/specsheets/ez-6.pdf for the ZURN various sizes

https://www.webstaurantstore.com/zu...ckel-bronze-head-and-2-3-outlet/995EZPV2.html appears to be a 2 or 3 inch output drain with a filler input.

I was looking for something with an inlet to support priming.

See https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/IPC2021P1/chapter-10-traps-interceptors-and-separators

1002.4.1.4 says you can also use a device that meets ASSE 1072 in lieu of a trap primer. I found this:
