Hi, I am trying to help my mom out with a leaking water softener timer. She has an Aquafine Sensimatic. It appears the injector weep hole is leaking. I read the manual on how to disassemble and clean the injector assembly. I did all that and noticed that the rubber is quite worn. I searched around online for parts but did not find any direct replacement parts...I think this unit is just too old. She had this water softener installed almost 20 years ago! I found a very similar timer/controller on Amazon, but the Injector and Drain flow specs are not the same.
Installed
Injector 0 Drain Flow 1.5GPM
Amazon
Injector 4 Drain Flow 7.0 GPM

Have never work on a water softerner before, but am curious if we can get something to work.

Fleck 5600 Econominder.

The Injector number and DLFC (drain line flow control) restrictor are interchangeable as those are sized specifically for the tank diameter.

That control valve continues to be manufactured to this day, and replacement parts maybe easily obtained, often from local generic water treatment professionals, but also from equipment distributors, one of which is located in Newmarket, Ontario.

Thanks! This Aquafine Sensimatic looks similar to the Fleck 5600, but the injector assembly is not identical.
I did order the one off Amazon and installed it just now, but the back wash stage shot water out the vent. I think I the DLFC is WAY too big for the system she has installed. I think I will try your suggestion of interchanging the parts. I called around this AM and could not find anyone who could help me service the Aquafine unit. Does the place you mention in Newmarket deal with the Aquafine Sensimatic units?

Most softeners & filters are built using various, off the shelf components, often including a Fleck control valve, which is then assembled and labeled by an assembler or dealer as their own brand of softener or filter.

A 1.5 GPM drain flow rate will be appropriate for an 8" diameter X 44" softener tank, which will typically contain 0.75ft3 softening resin, which is what is likely within what appears to be a cabinet style softener.

A 9"X 48" tank will typically contain 1.0 ft3 resin and utilize a 2.0 GPM DLFC.

A 10"X 54" tank will usually contain 1.5 ft3 resin and will use a 2.4 GPM DLFC.

I don't know what 'vent' you are referring to. A backwashing control valve does not utilize a vent, but does utilize a connection to a drain, which is where water will be discharged out from during the Backwash, Brine Draw/Slow Rinse, and Rapid Rinse stages of regeneration.

The flow rate during the Backwash and Rapid Rinse stages, will be directly restricted by the DLFC flow restrictor, otherwise, if the drain rate is too high, the resin will be lifted too high to the top of the tank during Backwash, and some resin may be flushed out to drain.

CWW offer various Fleck, Clack and Autotrol brand control valves and replacement parts.
