Hello,

I have a double sink installed on a central outlet with a single trap (see the attached image) generating awful stench. I am assuming the trap is getting dried up. With no possibility to open the wall and fix it by venting separately, I was thinking to add an AAV to solve the venting/smell issue. Due to space restriction, I can add an AAV in two places as marked on the image: AAV1 would be best, but if that placement is wrong, I can try and install it on center (AAV2).

Would appreciate feedback and whether it would solve the problem.

Thanks!

Neither of those locations will do anything.
Any venting takes place after the p-trap, not before it.

Of course, silly me. Thanks.

Would an AAV after the trap help in this situation?

There is a drain in the wall, and i suspect it's blocked, maybe partially. This is a second floor, and when one of the toilets is flushed, there's some gurgling in another one in the same area.
I don't know how to check if the vent if properly open, so I guess I'll wait until spring to go on the roof and snake.

I appreciate the advice.

Hey, wait a minute.
