3/4 PVC pipe near Ptrap

So I was in the process of replacing a vanity and I found this 3/4" PVC pipe attached top the drain. Any ideas what it may be for?

Probably AC condensate or softener drain.

I would guess for a condensate drain. Interesting how they used the pop-up drain connection for that.

One of these with a 1.5" x 1.25 slip joint washer would also do.
