My house came with the 2.2 gpm aerators on all faucets and today I replaced the one in the kitchen with a 1.5 gpm to help save some water. It came from Lowes. Everything is OK but it whistles a good bit louder than the previous aerator, especially when the water is turn on all the way. Is it normal for this to be louder than the 2.2 aerator or do you think I bought a defective one? If so, I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

aerator

If you have a garbage disposer, keep your plumber's phone number handy, because it will not give enough water to flush the drain lines properly. A lower flow aerator is going to create additional residual pressure at the aerator, which will make more noise. I usually go the other way. I take the low flow aerator and REMOVE the restrictor, ( I buy ones with a separate restrictor plate), to give maximum flow through the disposer.
