My submersible pump is sitting in a shallow spring, and the water generally contains a small amount of debris such as bug parts, fine sediment (stirred by amphibians and well techs), bits of leaf, and so on. We usually don't see much of this by the time the water reaches the house, but I want to have a simple filter in place before I install a cycle stop valve. What type of filter will do the job and is also easy to clean/maintain? I'm concerned mainly with particulate matter large enough to affect valves and fixtures. The spring water does not need a softener.
