Well pump goes out every year

I bought the house about 3 years ago and every year the water pump goes out. The well is located about 220 ft from the house and it appears that they use 10/2 to run power to the well.
every year around May or June the pump stops working I use Little Giant pumps. so I always buy the same pump just because it's easier to hook up.Acording to my meter I have 120 volts at the pump I always run the pump on 120 volts.

A submersible pump going bad routinely in about a year is not normal.

What happens when the pump fails-- any symptom other than no water?

I am guessing a jet pump not a submersible from the 120V thing? What is failing? What does it do?
