I am a new home owner with very little knowledge of wells and pumps. I have a submersable pump with an insualated pump house but I neglected to turn on the pipe heater wires (Extension cord trype things wrapped around the pipes, they are now on). Woke up this morning to no water after leaving the faucets dripping overnight. After using a hairdryer on thin pipe below the pressure switch i heard a click and the water began to flow inside. The water was not flowing evenly and was pulsating a bit but the pressure was good. I went out to the pump and the pressure switch was short cycling constantly. it was also leaking out of the pressure vavle when it was cycled on. About a few tablespoons per cycle would weep out. It cycles twice about every minute with the water in the house off. If anything is on in the house the switch continuously cycles on and off but water flows somewhat normally inside. The pressure valve leaks while it is short cycling. I repaced the pressure switch and the pressure valve but the issue is still there. I noticed the large blue pressure tank meter shows zero pressure. I also tested the fitting at the top of the tank and the pressure was neglidgable at best. It did hiss slightly. I am waiting on a plumber but they can not say when in the next two days they will be able to get here. I have a friend coming by leter to see if he can figure it out. Any ideas?
Should I keep the pump on or off?
