Tuscany bathroom faucet stem frustration

Handle broke off a tenant's bathroom faucet. One of these:

Turns out the stem snapped where it meets the body of the stem cartridge. So I do some research and Menard's sells one stem that allegedly fits all Tuscany sink faucets:

I know it's pretty different from the original but goof around trying it anyways. Not even close to working-- water just flows.
Is it possible that there's just no replacement stem available for this unit?

The photo is is fine, that is not a delta stem I can't tell you what it is, but if you know what make and model number I am sure you can find the right parts.

Thanks, cwhyu2. Hj seemed to imply above that if I went to the trouble of getting a pic and posting it here that s/he would be able to help. I guess some people just like to watch others chase their tails,.
