I bought a Thermar super power pack (9kw, model HP9024s) back in 1986 but never installed it. I'm considering installing it in a rental unit. The water heater would only serve 1 clothes washer--nothing else connected to the line. Would you recommend this, or should I just spend the $ and purchase a standard water heater? I have the instructions, etc. but see nothing about the capacity. I remember seeing it in Popular Mechanics back in 1986. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

I would sell it and buy something new, that is dependable and you can still get parts for if needed. The big expense is to install the unit so install a good water heater and be done with it.

It is a "point of use" water heater designed for a single faucet, (and very limited water for that). It only flows 1 gpm so would NEVER work for a washing machine.
