I'm in Chicago, we're renovating the two kitchens: moving the plumbing to the exterior wall, and hopefully adding a compact washer and dryer to each apartment.

It's a two-story apartment building with a basement. The kitchen sinks drain into the same stack--please see the diagram attached.

Is this simple wet venting legal in Chicago? I believe horizontal wet venting is legal up to a certain length. Is vertical wet venting legal? And what are the size/DFU constraints if so?

I can imagine adding a "vent stack" parallel to the main which would have to jog around the sink drains--of course we'd like to avoid that complication if it's not necessary (a washer vent would further complicate).

The walls are open and we have a lot of freedom to upgrade but we want to do it right :) .

I think Chicago has its own code. That looks more like stack venting to me , verticle wet venting between floors is prohibited in my code . adding 2 wash machines might or might not fly Im not real optomistic suds reief could be an issue .
And again please fill us in on specifialy what plumbing code governs you and size of that piping

You can't do the drawing. We venting is legal in Illinois. You need a parallel stack for the vents. Drains can all go into the drain stack and vents go into the vent stack, but your can't wet vent between floors.
