We’ve torn out a 1 piece shower stall in the lower level of our quad home and would like to replace it with a 3 piece (+base) acrylic unit. Two walls are interior stud walls, one wall is cinderblock. We want to keep the pipes and valve where they are (located in a interior stud wall). Can we install a direct to stud shower surround? It’s a 36x36 stall. On the cinderblock wall, the flange (on the old unit) was nailed to a piece of 1x2. Can we add more 1x2 (horizontally for the base and vertically for the panel)?
