Hey everyone. New homeowner and discovered a small leak when running the master bedroom shower (didn’t use this shower since moving in until recently). The shower drain gasket (or what I believe is a gasket) appeared to be disgusting and old. It looks like the gasket is the issue causing the leak (when I run water directly into the pipe the leak ceases, the leak only exists when water hits the outside of the line where the gasket is).

Before I end up hiring a plumber, would this be a fix I could do myself. I pulled up the old rubber gasket/sleeve, which appeared to come out in two pieces. Having trouble finding the right parts online for replacement.

Please excuse the absolutely disgusting pictures lol.

Some of them require access from beneath the tray to tighten a compression fitting so the thing will seal.

You need a new 2" shower drain gasket. I think HD still carries Oatey gasket. Or you can find one at rjsupplyhouse.com.

You install it from the top by forcing it in. No caulk needed.
