I’ve got several ridgid pipe cutters - 3 and 4 wheel cutters - that were my father’s, and I bought a replacement set of cutting wheels for the no 2 cutter (same as today’s 2a).

I was surprised to see that the wheels have a more blunt edge than the old wheels I took off, which are relatively sharp though I’m replacing them because they have some damage to the cutting edge as well.

I’m just curious about the blunt edge design as opposed to the sharper edges on the old cutting wheels that date back to at least the early 70’s.

Wheels are made for different materials. The thinnest wheels are for cutting through plastic, then you get thicker for copper, and thicker yet for cutting through steel.
