Hi all,
Recently posted about the first issue I've had with my well pump in about 15 years:
The issue got me looking in to my setup a little more. I was able to find out the following information about my well:
200' depth
45 gal/min
Drilled/installed 2008
Goulds 10GS07412 submersible pump
Centripro M07412 motor (suspected based on CB07412 control box)
30/50 Pumptrol pressure switch set at 40/60
Pressure tank at 38 psi
What got me concerned was the 30/50 switch set at 40/60... When confirming the pressures recently, I had realized that the cut-out setting could not be adjusted any lower than about 61 psi when the cut-in is set at 40. The spring on the cut-out setting is in fact loose, with no ability to reduce the delta between cut-in and cut-out lower than the 21 psi I'm seeing on the gauge.
Looking further, I noted the control box shows a max amps of 8.0 on its label. When I monitor current on the well pump, I see it start at about 9A (40 psi), increasing to 9.25A (61 psi) or so when it turns off.
Finally, I took a look at pump curve for the 10GS07 pump. Assuming the pump is installed somewhere between 20-40 feet below the bottom of the well (this is just a guess - I have no idea the actual depth of the pump), I see that 60 psi is barely on the curve.
All of this got me wondering if I'm operating this pump too close to its limits. I'd be interested in your thoughts.
Also, is there any possibility the motor overload is actually shutting off the pump and not the pressure switch at 60 psi? On occasion I've heard a fairly loud snap from the motor controls, louder than the snap from the pressure switch. Would a loss of power to the pressure switch cause the contacts to release if the overload were in fact being tripped before pressure was reached?
Thanks!

Very strange well issue occurred today...
Hi all. Would appreciate any ideas on a very strange well issue that occurred for me this morning. Sorry for the length - hoping the detail might help. Background: 15-year old new construction with deep well in central PA. Unsure of depth. Goulds 3/4 hp submersible, 20 gal pressure tank...
