Plumber electrocuted while working in flooded basement of Detroit apartment complex

What could they have done to prevent this. Sorry for his family and loss of life. Whats your take on it? should electricians be called out for floodings in basements as well as the plumbers?

Without knowing the whole story it would hard to know exactly what happened. Could of been a faulty gfi plug that was replaced with just a plug on his drain cleaner machine. Water at that time might only been 6" deep or less not the 3'-4' when the fire dept / police found him.

There have been many electrocutions at lake side piers and docks. Somehow the water has a charge. Also it can happen at pools. A few years ago at a Disney Resort in Orlando, a boy died as he touched the metal grab bar and stepped into the water. The water probate ha the charge and the grab bar was the ground.
