Within the last few years I repiped my entire house with a manifold system using Apollo Pex A.

I have a 1/2 in Pex A dedicated line running to a hose bib in my non insulated garage. During the winter months it’s valved off and drained down.

I’m about to trench power to a detached shed and figured a hose bib would be nice since I’m already digging.

Assuming I’m running a pipe below the frost line and going approximately 60 linear feet from the garage, is 1/2 Pex sufficient to maintain proper volume/pressure or should I transition to a 3/4 poly yard pipe? This would be t’d off the line already running into the garage.

If running the Pex A there would be no fittings underground. The house has close to 80psi water pressure if it makes a difference.

Any thoughts/ lessons learned would be appreciated.

Given that your house already has 80 psi, a 1/2” PEX-A line could work, but it’s not ideal for a 60-foot underground run, especially if you ever plan to use the hose bib for anything beyond occasional light use. 3/4” PEX-A or poly would ensure better volume and future flexibility, especially if you decide to add another fixture later. Since PEX-A is highly resistant to freezing and doesn’t require fittings underground, it’s a great choice—just be sure to bury it below the frost line and consider running it through a conduit for extra protection.
