Purchased and installed an Oxygenics handheld shower. Leaks at the upper hose connection. When the water is turned off it briefly sprays out of this connection. Oxygenics says it is the backflow preventer and is operating properly. I just cannot believe that water spraying out is proper. Any thoughts out there?

ANY TIME there is downstream pressure on a backflow preventer, it WILL discharge the excess pressure. When you turn the faucet off, there may be a monentary pressure imbalance causing the symptom, since the upstream pressure is now zero.
