Hi All,

When doing some remodeling we discovered this drain pipe in the basement.
Our plumber suggested to replace, but didn't say why.
Since there is no easy access to this pipe from the other side, it would mean probably additional damage to the adjoining wall (on the other side) and possibly damage to some stairs, so we are hesitant to do it (probably why the previous owners didn't replace that part of the pipe).
Any thoughts on whether we would need to replace this?

Cheers

How long before the home is torn down? Just asking because in our area, homes built in the 50's are being bulldozed.
You will never get this good of access again I would guess.

In New England Houses tend to survive for a very long time. We have no plans to tear it down.
