Need laundry box solution for 8" line span

Hi,. I have an old house (plaster walls) and need to install a laundry outlet box. Problem: the water lines are 8" apart and all the off the shelf boxes handle a Max of 6" span between the water lines.

Does anyone have a solution? Can I build my own box? FYI: I live in California.

I appreciate any advice you can provide!

You can fashion one if you're good by using a electrical PVC junction box at 12" square but it is 6" deep. Then you'll need to buy the fittings and do you want a drain connection? Are the existing pipes behind the wall or in front of the wall? What about the drain? What are you trying to accomplish?

WHAT is the problem? You just install the box and then adjust the water lines to connect to it.

Are your water pipes galvanized? If galvanized, go underneath and unscrew the pipe. then screw in a 1/2" pex male adapter. crimp your pex at the male adapter. it's flexible. make a straight shot from your male adapter to the pex-style washer-box. crimp. bam! you're done.

Are your water pipes copper? Same answer as above, except cut the pipe off underneath and use a 1/2" sharkbite coupling.
