Mixet Temperature valve hard to turn

Installed a new Mixer cartridge to fix a leak. Leak is now gone.

Issue is that the temperature valve is only able to be adjusted once the water flow volume knob is slightly turned on. Once the volume knob is turned to more water flow, the temperature valve/stem is extremely stiff.

Read in the forum to install the cartridge when it is in the full open position? What does that mean? I just opened the mixer cartridge from the package, made sure the red dot was facing up and pushed it in?

Were you sure when the old cartridge was removed, nothing was left inside the the valve body? Is there a screw down ring to hold in the cartridge? Over tightening it can be a problem. Model and pictures could help.
