Hello,
The fan of the outdoor unit of my 5-zone minisplit (Seabreeze SMZ42H46ZOGX) is rattling.
Video here:
It's 10years old. It still works fine, but clearly needs servicing in the foreseeable future.
Just so i'm an educated customer, what exactly should I expect the problem to be?
And do you know if there are still parts available for this model?
Thank you
Theodore

Kill the power, pull the grill, turn the fan blade see if its hitting anything or missing a piece. Check motor bearings grab the blade by the hub see if there's play front to back and up and down. Google units brand and model number for parts. Brand and numbers on the motor also.

Did that.
I removed the grill and grabbed the fan blades to rock it and here's the video:
It didn't really rock back and forth much at all. You can hear it when I push/pull, but doesnt feel particularly bad to me (a novice).

Also took a video from off to full power:
Just to show how/when the rattle starts. The initial spin is quiet, but at 54seconds into the video, when it cranks up the speed, the frame holding the fan starts to vibrate just a little, which makes all that rattling sound. It's not the fan blades, which appear smooth and clear and balanced.

Really puzzling to me what the problem could be. Your collective review and advice is really, REALLY appreciated. This rattling only started during this past winter.

Sounds like a 1/4" of play? That's alot of play. Shaft up and down any play? A couple of thousands is to much. Also pull the blade and clean it doesn't take much to knock it out of balance. When you clean the outside unit coil ever pull the top and split the coil if there is two coils?
