I want to connect a laundry tub to a washer standpipe as described in the International Plumbing Code 802.4.3.1. Unfortunately, the laundry tub drain would be more than 30 inches from the washer standpipe. The configuration would be washing machine, dryer, laundry tub, putting the laundry tub drain about 72 inched from the washer standpipe.

Is there a way to have a longer laundry tub drain "run" to the standpipe such as adding a p-trap to the laundry tub?

Adding a vented p-trap to the laundry tub and joining the standpipe drainage after its trap works, but under newer IPC after the tub and standpipe drainage join, you need 3 inch. That would be easy with new construction Maybe you could get a variance for remodel, since those combined flows work fine under UPC or older IPC versions.

If you were proposing that the sink drainage go through two traps, that is not allowed.

Another good simple way would be to extend the washer drain hose around the back of the dryer.

Just extending the washer hose to dump over the laundry sink lets the combined flows use 1-1/2 inch to carry the drainage because the laundry tub buffers the load.

And one more option is to move the existing standpipe so that it's within 30" of the new laundry tub, and move the washer drain hose over.
