Want to install recessed medicine cabinet in 1st floor bath. Drain for second floor tub is just in the way (pic on left below).
Is it okay to jog drain around, so I can fit in cabinet (as in pic on right below).
If so, is it okay to use rubber couplings inside finished wall?

Fernco shielded couplings provide maximum transfer of pressure from the clamps -to the gasket - to the pipe.

Shielded couplings also add extra strength and rigidity and help maintain proper alignment.

With your jogging around, you will have to deal with studs.

An alternative is to put recessed medicine cabinets into the stud bays on either side, and put a fixed mirror over the space in the middle.

I like to do things the easy way.

I would install a nice looking surface mount medicine cabinet and call it a day.

Wouldn't a recessed cabinet take the entire width between 16" o.c. studs (14.5") ? If so, where would you jog the pipe to?
