Mr. Love,
I'm guessing the float / rod and the wire (which is actually solder wire) wrapped around the flap rod (?) are 'MacGyver' substitutions; causing interference of the float resulting in intermittent over filling submerging the ballcock valve. I'm guessing the intermittent over filling and submerging of the valve is why its only lasted five years?

The ballcock valve is not closing despite the float being completely submerged so another Scoville Model 12. Is there a specific float and rod length replacement? How is the flap supposed to be connected to the rod/arm (?) ?. Is there an updated or modern tank replacement?

I'm having difficulty finding someone to maintain the Walsan in the San Francisco Bay Area. Would the Two Piece Gerber Ultra Flush be a simpler, less maintenance replacement?

Thank you for your time.
