I have a Hellenbrand Iron Curtain on our well. I was getting very low flow in the house so I decided to clean the unit, it has 2 tanks 1) the Aeration Tank which has a little compressor atop and 2) Filter tank. The inlet diffuser on the Aeration Tank was clogged quite badly but I got all the crud off it. Prior to this, when someone would use water in the house you could hear a trickle in this tank but now it sounds more like a spray. I did rinse the media in the Filter Tank and also the valving for the Aeration Tank which was also quite full of rusty crud. So here is my issue... I get inconsistent flow now. Sometimes it is very strong but other times it is not. The morning after a regen (set for every 3 days) I will get air initially in the morning. Do I need to replace my Filter Tank media? If so, what do I use? I have good water pressure at the pressure tank but maybe the low end is too low as it seems like the good flow may be when the pressure level is at its highest (65 psi). The water pressure was the first thing that I tried adjusting before cleaning the tanks. It is mainly the morning after a regen that I get the air that is most concerning. I do notice when I take a shower, the flow can vary quite a bit from start to finish.

Is the pressure consistent at the pressure tank when you have the flow problem. What is the pressure? Is it possible to bypass the iron removal tanks with a bypass valve? It's to prove your pump and pressure tank are correctly working. Have you checked the pressure tank that the bladder has no leaks. (drain, set pressure, refill)?

Yes, the pressure is consistent. Pump kicks on about 45 psi and off at 65.
After a weekend of camping, I took a nice long shower when I got home and flow seemed to drop off towards the end. I went down by the Iron Curtain system and it sound like water is trickling in again much like it was before I cleaned the aeration tank valve. See, I cleaned the aeration tank one weekend, was not fully impressed with the results so I pulled the valving between the tank and pressure tank (the valving that lets me completely bypass the aeration tank). It was crudded up too. Shortly after I cleaned that valving what used to sound like water trickling sounded more like water spraying but today it sounded like water trickling again.
