800' well, in foothills just outside boulder CO.

which manufacturer/brand has the best customer service and after sales support? I plan on installing the system "inhouse", i.e. myself, but also have a plumber and well service company if I need it.

I have had quotes from

reverse osmosis superstore $12k

2000gpd RO + FRP vessels for chlorine, permeate flush, antiscalant injection.

Crystal quest 13k

1500gpd RO with brackish membrane.
Metal removal
Turbidity filter
Silica dosing system (antiscalant?)
Big blue alkalizing filter
UV

US water systems $12k
Flexx infusion iron/sulfur/manganese,
Defender brackish water RO 2000gpd with antiscalant.
Proportional injection pH balancing

WECO $17k

SoftURX combo anion/cation softener for harness and uranium
Antiscalant injection
Ultra300 RO customized for 2900Ppm TDS
Calcite filter

Basically online retailers. Around 12-13k for the whole system except WECO, who recommends softener as pretreatment vs antiscalant. Local water treatment companies are around double (30k+), installation cost on top of that.

What are your thoughts on all those different pretreatment options? I'm surprised to see different companies requiring different pretreatment.

Also my water test doesn't mention anything about the rotten egg smell coming from the well, and whether additional pretreatment is needed to deal with that.

Any opinion welcome. And thanks!

I suggest you get a radon detector. I like Ecosense EB100.

For uranium, I would just do RO for the drinking water.

You are saying you have H2S ("sulfur") smell from the well water. I suggest sanitizing your well and plumbing.
https://terrylove.com/forums/index....izing-extra-attention-to-4-inch-casing.65845/ is my sanitizing write-up for submersible pump systems.

Also consider using a powered anode for the water heater.

I would love to skip the whole house RO but I can't imagine bathing in all that sulfate...... And deposits all over my appliances and sinks. Maybe even shorten the life of my water heater and washing machine. You don't think it's a problem? My sulfate concentration is through the roof!. And, I don't even know of a under sink RO that can handle that high of a TDS? This is brackish water....

For deposits, consider a softener. But your high TDS would make that harder too.

I figure if a whole house RO can deal with that TDS, a point-of-use would have an easier time. I am not a pro, and I have never worked with an RO.

Epsom salt is Magnesium sulfate. Some bath in that on purpose.

My opinion is that you need a local company's expertise to deal with your situation both for installation and for maintenance.

When I lived in Texas our well was 705ft deep with hideous water and we switched to rainwater collection (possible cuz moderate outside temps). A neighbor had a whole house RO which took-up about 6x8ft of floor space in his garage and was nontrivial to deal with. IIRC his had probably a 250-500gal holding tank for the RO water, which was truly Whole House as he washed his cars and sometimes watered his plants/yard with it.

Don't buy from an online retailer and attempt this yourself.

The problems you have have seen people on here spend thousands on water treatment and then they keep throw more stuff towards trying to make it work. Would want to talk to a water treatment specialist (wts) think they have a.minimum 5 year experience.

The prices you have been quoted from all theses people are just out of this world .
they are seriously overpriced..

I know where you are near boulder colorado and their ought to be reputable
places around that you ought to get a quote from

I know of actual manufacturer places around the country that sell directly

to me that probably would do the same for you too......if you sent them the
test results...

if you want the names of 2 places to inquire about this let me know

I would LOVE to get in touch with the manufacturers. Please let me know which companies you would recommend.

The truth is, any local company general quoted me double what the online retailers quoted me. So far I have tried rocky mountain water conditioning out of Longmont. Kinetico's Denver branch, johns well service. Do you have a recommendation for a local company I should get in touch with?

Otherwise I am prepared to order direct from a reputable manufacturer and install the system myself.

My plan right now is:

3gpm Well, pump to atmospheric tank storage OR pressure tank, followed by peroxide injection and carbon backwash filter. Then antiscalant injection to 2000gpd RO. Then 300G storage tank with ozone OR UV disinfection. I'll test the product water for pH and then if needed, add calcite filter for remineralization.

You will probably have to claim that you are a small time plumber or starting out as a
small time water conditioning guy to get them to ship direct to you.... They ship to me all
the time.... no questions asked... just make something up

one is Nelsons Corp and they are in 3 different states https://www.nelsencorp.com/

the other is Woods brothers out of Nebraska https://wbi72.com/

I think you might have better luck with Nelsons because they are a much larger company
and they got some real high end stuff..... Just send them the specs and they will figure out something

consider giving me a good review on google some time for the advice please.....weilhammerplumbing.com
