I have a 1500 liter tank and I am having trouble with 1.0 hp booster pumps that last only 2-3 years with my setup in the Philippines. City water (in Philippines is not dependable) goes to the holding tank if available. The water from the big tank goes to the pressure tank and then to the house via the booster pump.

I don't know how how to automatically detect that the tank water level is low and then how to automatically unpower booster pump so it doesn't burn up due to no water flow.

What do you suggest as a way to automatically detect low water level in tank (with no city water input)?

How do I automatically unpower booster pump in such circumstances, so it doesn't burn up?

And then will automatically power the booster pump when water level increases?

Thank you for your assistance.

If it is 230V a Cycle Sensor can shut the pump off when it runs dry. It can be set to restart the pump in 5 hours or can be set to need a manual reset when the tank if refilled.

The only way to dependably turn the pump back on when the tank refills automatically is to use a pump down float switch in the cistern.

Thank you Cary for your advice! It is 230 VAC. Do you have a diagram of the design with big tank, pressure tank and booster pump, along with the Cycle Sensor you mentioned?
