I bought 3 of these a few years ago, due to the extra rim height (17") and hoping we would not have clogging issues ... Nothing but disappointment. Here are the problems:
1. Cloggs often
2. Standard plunger doesn't work, so had to design my own
3. Loud
4. Often keeps running (i.e., bowl doesn't fill - flap open)
5. WORST, recently it started to clog and keep running which has led to major water flooding and damaged ceiling and maple floor.
6. No advice from Kohler

PLEASE ADVICE: Can any of these problems be solved or, looking at the rest of your forum, do I need to invest in a TOTO and be done with it??

Any toilet can collect in the trapway.
Once you start collecting things there, it can catch paper.

If the toilet used to work better, and then got worse, it may need to be snaked or augered out.

That can happen to any toilet.

I prefer the trapway on the Drake, it has better bends.
Using a plunger would be similar with either.
I don't have a problem plunging either the Kohler or the Toto.
The plunger should have a small end, about 2" and bit of water left in the bowl to help seal around the plunger.

If the flapper is not sealing, it may need a chain adjustment, or replacement.
If the flapper is sealing, then the tank should fill and shut off.
If the fill valve is not sealing, it's an easy repair using Fluidmaster parts.
