I have an ninety year old live stock watering system that is gravity fed from a cistern to seven water troughs. I have a blockage between trough 3 and 4 which are about 50 yards apart. I have tried to plunge the line from trough 3 through the inlet with no success. With the float valve off the inlet it is about two feet down to a T in the line. One side going to the source and one going to the next trough. It is a two inch line in all directions. My next thought is to run a snake down the line, but I'm not sure it will make the turn at the T, let alone turn in the correct direction. Any suggestions? These troughs are concrete. There are no cleanouts along the line and it is about a mile to the nearest source of electricity. One of the pleasures of having a place in west Texas....

The snake probably will not make a 90 degree turn. I would try to blow it out with air.

I considered that but don't know how I would block the air from going up the supply side which is about two hundred yards long. Each of these troughs are poured concrete and directly over the input line.

Maybe you could dig down to the line at the end of the trough and cut a section of the pipe out and then use your snake....... You might need to borrow a generator if you try to blow it out as suggested.

Is trough 4 the end of the line? How about blowing from there with a gas powered pressure washer?

I see where some plumbers are now using a device that freezes the pipe to make a plug. Then they can work on it without shutting off the water. But a 2" pipe restricted like that is probably a lot of sediment or crushed. I am afraid you are just putting off the inevitable.

Hey, wait a minute.
