My husband is 6'2", and 290 lbs and we're looking at buying a house. My husband doesn't care about anything else in the house except for the bathroom. Besides his annoyance of typical toilets being made for midgets, he also hates how every time he wants to take a bath, he pretty much has to fold in half just to get in there.

We had an apartment previously that had one of those AMAZING 3 piece shower/tub combos. I think it was made of acrylic or something. But the best thing about it is that there was no caulking around the edges (so no water pooling there and getting the caulking all moldy)! There was still caulking, but it was in between each "piece" of the tub in the wall part. So water couldn't just sit there. If that makes sense.

So we're looking for something just like that (whether 3 piece or 1 piece), only in the form of a giant bathtub. Like, big like a jacuzzi bathtub. I mean, the jets would be nice, but not necessary. And it also has to be able to be a shower, too. I don't know if such a thing exists.

Any ideas? Is there a special name for it? Where to find it?

http://www.diamondtubshowers.com/Tubs - Showers/Tub and Shower - One Piece has examples of a 72 inch (vs common 60 inch) one piece tub and surround with and without whirlpool. They even show an 81 inch unit. They are probably very expensive because they don't say.

There are probably lots of alternatives. Search for "72 soaking tub" for just a tub. Then there are surrounds that can go over such a tub.

You did not say how much space was available for your combo, but this might get you going.

Go to a plumbing supplier and tell them you are interested in 72 or 84 inch tubs (a standard tub is 60). You will not be likely to find what you want at a regular retail store.
