As the cold weather approaches, I cannot help but start planning for next year's garden. I take pride in starting all my plants from seed, and this year, I have a new project in mind - building an elevated bench that is tiled and sloped with a drain at one end. To ensure optimal growth and supplement the warmth needed, I am considering installing a new heating system.

I have the option of building a 5x10 room in either the basement (65°) or the attic (50°). To maintain a consistent temperature of 80°, I am interested in the GE Appliances 10 Gallon Versatile Plug and Play Electric Water Heater. However, I wanted to seek your advice on whether this specific model would be sufficient for heating both the room and bench effectively.

Additionally, I have transfer plates from my previous house that I can retrofit for this purpose. I believe that with the right equipment, we can create the ideal environment for plant growth and ensure a successful garden next year.

I appreciate your expertise in this matter and look forward to your recommendations on the suitability of the GE Appliances 10 Gallon Electric Water Heater or any alternative you may suggest. Your guidance will be invaluable in helping me achieve my goal of creating a thriving garden oasis.

Thank you guys

If the water heater uses a 1000 watt element, it will produce roughly 3,410 BTUs. Depending on your space size and insulation, that might not be enough to maintain a consistent 80°F in a 5x10 room, especially with the cooler temperatures in the attic or basement. You may need additional heating to make up the difference, or consider a water heater with a higher wattage to meet your heating requirements.
