Garburetor clogs dishwasher drainpipe

We have had flooding under the kitchen sink a few times caused by the dishwasher drain hose clogging up. My first theory was that the clog was coming from the dishwasher (food remains on plates etc). But that is not proving out. The line goes from the dishwasher to a vent and from the vent to the garburetor. The line from the dishwasher to the vent is clear. The line from the vent to the garburetor is clogged. So it looks as if the garburetor is discharging food particles into the line. Any ideas on how to prevent this?

Assuming the line from the air gap is DOWNHILL to the disoposal, then the only reason for a clog is that the drain line is clogged. Now, to some extent, during normal operation, so debris can get in the nipple area where the DW line connects. This is just a periodic maintenance item on a disposal. But if you are having slow drain problems, it is the drain line.

It will happen if the disposer is worn out and causing partial or complete blockage of the discharge. The disposer is a pump, and if the material cannot go down the drain it WILL go out the most accessible point, which would be the dishwasher connection.

But would it be a problem if they allowed high loops, so that the DW pump would clear the line, rather than spilling out the air gap when flow is reduced?
