So I have posted on a couple other threads regarding my water situation.

Ultimately I want to get a filter to deal with some red/brown build up in my pipes and hopefully keep the fixtures clean. I blew some $ on some water tests and I'll attach them here.

I also got my pump struck by lightning after I spent $2200 to replace it a few months ago. Local "tradesmen" wanted $1200 to swap it out assuming the pump would warranty out (hanging on 120' of threaded 1 1/4 sch 80), thought that was a bit overpriced for a simple swap as usually runs about $400 around here. I borrowed some muscles and pulled it out myself and replaced it (another Grundfos 3" sq pump) and we have water again.

Long story short, what do you guys recommend for confirmed BAD iron bacteria and whatever else is on this report.

Iron bacteria result: Iron Bacteria by P/A Iron Related Bacteria is Present in this sample, with an estimated population of 9,000 cfu/mL.

Can't upload the pdf directly, here is a link to it : http://www.latil.net/WaterTestRedac.pdf

Here is my other threads on this well:

I would sanitize the well and plumbing.
https://terrylove.com/forums/index....izing-extra-attention-to-4-inch-casing.65845/ is my writeup. It is written mainly with a submersible pump on a pitless in mind. If you have a jet pump, and a 2-inch casing, it is not going to apply at all.

Your link did not show the part of the report that you wanted to show.

I updated the link. Thanks for the advice. This is a 4" well drilled to 500 with the 3" submersible grundfos SQ pump hung at 120'.

Couple of value from the report above:
Manganese : 0.075 mg/L
Iron: 0.257
Silica: 60.3
Hardness: 27
PH: 7
Turbidity: 1.6 NTU
Calcium: 8.1
Lithium: 0.018
Potassium: 2.3
Alkalinity: 76
Total Dissolved Solids: 150
Sulfate: 5.3

That is correct, mg/l. So it sounds like hardness and iron are not big issues according to the test although I obviously have really bad iron bacteria which your link will help with. Manganese is high.

What about a dry pellet chlorinator dropping straight into the well? Would help with iron bacteria. Something like this: https://www.purewaterproducts.com/dry-pellet-chlorinator

I rarely recommend adding chlorine into the well other than for intermittent sanitizing. A simple chlorine injection system outside of the well and some contact time is preferred. Your water looks great other than the manganese and colifor,/iron bacteria issues.

I have a very large (220 gallon) galvanized pressure tank (that I'm sure already has plenty of sediment and iron algae in it), how bad would it be if I used it as the contact tank for normal chlorine injection with a sediment filter after it?

Should do well. You would want a way to wash sediment out of the bottom, and I think pull the outgoing water from up higher, I think. Is there a top port?

Would the chlorine hasten the rusting? I am not sure.

Does water come into contact with the metal of your tank or is it fully lined with no metal contact. Chlorine injection ahead of it should be fine if their is no metal contact.
