When a cartridge is labeled CCW does it turn on or off with counter clockwise motion?

USUALLY off, but some such as older kohler and Chicago open CCW.

I’m dealing long distance with a supplier that has early nineties Jameco ceramic cartridges in sealed envelopes. Some are labeled CCW with others CW. So you’re saying the CCW are most likely counter clockwise off?

For a two handle deck mount faucet ,CCW would normally be for the cold handle. It turns off CCW.
