Epoxy Grout vs Caulk

Epoxy Caulk or Grout

Can I please get opinions on what use to ensure long-term waterproofing of the change of plane where the shower meets glass tile. This is a guest bathroom that is in frequently used, but just had a major water issue in my master bathroom with the same set up. Ended up taking the window out, but don’t want to do that in the guest bathroom now.

Options:

1. Export grout on horizontal and vertical changes of plane
2. Lexil or silicone on horizontal and vertical changes of plane
3. I mixture of both

I would never use grout for a waterproof joint at a change of plane. I would use a quality silicone caulk instead.

That said, you should not rely on tile and grout to be waterproof anywhere. There should be a waterproofing membrane under the tile. Two example of waterproofing products are Kerdi and RedGard. Those are applied over your substrate (e.g. drywall, cement board), followed by thinset and then tile.
