I have taken on the challenge of building a water pump system that will be running off a car battery. The problem is I really have no clue what I have to set up in order to make this work. Heres the system: I hav three 55 gallon tanks that need to be filled and then dumped after its been transported( not worried about the dumping just the filling) and this process will repeat all for 8 hours. What do I need to make this happen?

Where is the water in relation to the pump? Do you need a submersible pump? Is the water in a tank and the pump is connected to it etc.
I have a 12 volt Flojet pump connected to a large truck tank that I have used to run a single sprinkler and I can use it to power a hose end sprayer or whatever. It is similar to the one in this link:

This is essentially what I am trying to do. Ive got the piping and barrels set up as such. The pump will not be submerged. The water is going to be pulled from a pond and transported. The barrels are 55 gallon each. If you are wondering, yes this is a personally built BUV.

A 12 volt RV pump cost about 100 bucks and can pull from a pond to fill the barrels. Look for one that delivers a high volume. Looks like a good way to irrigate a magical garden hidden back in the woods. :)
