It's not possible to get under the tub in a bath reno we're doing and I won't take a chance of force twisting out the old drain. It currently has a strainer screwed into it and I'd like to replace that with a larger strainer that is wider in diameter than the drain so as to hide the rust. Anyone know of a part like that?

Anything that will screw into your existing shoe will be more or less all the same size. The real problem is that even if you find one a little larger, that rust cancer will continue to spread, and eventually you will just have a bigger hole.
